Looking to replace my Blose amp and speakers soon..

I have a 06 sedan and I'm thinking to start with (I'm really not interested in boom or replacing the HU):

JL 300/4 running:
Boston Pro60s upfront (i've been a boston fan for a while)
and Boston Pro50s in the rear doors

JL 250/1 ruuning:
Some unknown smallish sub in a stealth box

I'm definitely an amateur so any suggestions would be appreciated..

Sounds good. A JL 300/1 and a JL 10W3 would be fine if you don't want too much boom. You could get the 4080 box (here on the website). It would be a good setup.

So if I picked up a 10W3v3 with a 4080 and a 250/1, which ohm rating for the sub, 2 or 4?

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...php?page_id=35

They have this power chart and that seems like the sweet spot for this sub..

Doesn't matter which ohm rating, slash series JL amps have variable power supplies.

I'm gonna toss in some other options:

Consider Zapco DC amps. They have a DSP front end that allows you to fine tune your adjustments like mad. 10-band parametric EQ, time correction, etc.

In a similar price range to the JL, DLS Reference series amps will just whale on the JLs for SQ, IMO. BigSash has these amps here on this borad, among others.

Lose the rears. If you HAVE to use the rears, use Morel Integra point-source coaxes, the best coaxes anywhere, and they wont' ruin your imaging as bedly since the tweeters are down low.

ID is good but hard to get at present, DLS is good too, a DLS MW110 10" sub in a 4080 box and a set of DLS UP6 in the front is my recommendation.

Geeman has the MW110, among others, and amthar, geeman, and many others have the UP6 up front.

Agree. Spend more $ on the front components and go with the front soundstage. I went with a JL 450/4 with MB quarts up front and a Infinity Perfect 10"dvc for the sub. Hooked up the 75 watts/channel rear outputs to the quarts up front and bridged the 150 watt front channels for the sub.

Here are some pics from my classifieds ad.

DONT use a navone LOC or any other non-active LOC. I bought a Navone LOC based on several forum posts. Instead i would recommend the Soundgate active LOC.B which is an active design and remains flat. The Navone has a slight bump at 80hz and 12db/octave drop below that.

Or don't use ANY LOC, and use an amp that likes the balanced in - DLS and JL come to mind (ask amthar

So revised version:

Zapco DC1000.4 - I like the fact I can plug my PC into it and go to town..

Front channels running DLS UP6s up front, where do i get these?

Rear channels bridged running DLS MW110 10" sub in a 4080 box

Will the stock electrical system have enough juice to run this? How much dynomat do I need to pick up to do my sedan decently?

Thanks for all the input!

cokecan, I'd recommend listening to all of this before you buy it. If you ask a bunch of different audiophiles all about speakers, they will all give you different opinions. If you have a preference on speakers you like, I would stick with them, or at least hear others first.

Focal are great speakers IMO. It always depends how high end you want to go. However, for the price, I'm plenty happy with the Infinity Kappa components I have up front, and Kappa 3 ways in rear.
