Does it? I've always assumed the coupes were faster (because I assume they are lighter).

I'd like to see some facts comparing identical-model year cars.

My other car/previous daily driver is a '97 Miata, and sometimes this G35 feels like a TANK because it is SO much heavier. But I enjoy the comforts too much to reduce the weight by deleting luxuries

Pre 07, it would be close. 07 the g would win.

Yes sedan is 34 pounds lighter than coupe and sedan drag coefficient is lower at .26 vs .28 - one less for both with aero package.

has to do with the extra reinforcement required by the long sloping roof / single door design. The sedan has a support right in the middle (between doors).

sedan is faster than the coupe, theoretically speaking, given the same engine, lighter weight, more aerodynamic

The 350Z would win, but yes not by much. Also, I read that article about the "stock Z vs. the blown one". It was actually a full jdm NISMO Z against a twin turbo Z that was all riced out. The nismo won because it was lighter and had a better suspension and put the power down to the wheels more effecently. I have watched a on youtube a race between a skyline 350gt and a 350Z and it was very very close, but i think the Z looked like it pulled on the G a little.

For AutoX, the Z will win by a bit. The G is longer, heavier, and has a more intrusive traction control system. That's why it was reclassed last year to F-stock, while the Z remained in B-stock. As for road course, I think any difference would be negligible. Pretty much the same in that situation...
