Re: 5 Point Harness/Harness Bar and Stock Seats

At the end of the season I was at Watkins Glen for a NASA/PDA HPDE event. After running all summer with a 5 point harness, I was told that mounting the shoulder belts to the stock rear lap belt mounts was no longer acceptable.
A harness bar was required. Last month I had a 1.75" steel bar (removable) installed in time for another two day NASA/PDA HPDE at the Glen, May 5/6. They told me that new reg's state that you can't use a 5 (or more) point harness with stock seats "unless passed by tech inspectors" When I inquired on how that decision was made, I was told that it pertained to OEM race seats like the Recaros in EVO's. So now I've got two Recaros on order. There go the air bags, the heat and the adjustability. All this just to be able to burn up $100 a day of 93 octane. Oh, and the G is at Vinny's for two weeks getting a VTR Stage1 heart transplant and matching clutch and flywheel. Does it ever end? Is the any question how crazy we are?

Sounds like a Hardbar, I have one and paid about $200 or 250 it was a package deal with my 6 pt harness. Very popular with the Vette crowd.
Look behind my head in my Z, bolts into the seat belt mounts on the pillars and relocate the seat belt so you can use either one. I don't use it in my G because I don't track it only some autocross, I have another car for track use. Search on Hardbar, if you don't find it I can look up my contact in NH where I bought it.

back in july he told me

"I do have one in stock that my former partner labeled Infinity G35 deliberately. I think it is that angle that is slightly different. "
