s2000.

NSX is out of your price range.... unless you plan on doing some significant repairs.

Holy Sh*t. The Corvette dominates the rankings.

If you are looking for a FUN and INEXPENSIVE track car, buy a pre-built Spec Miata.

8-15k depending on generation and setup and equipment included.

I can't believe nobody has suggested a 350Z!! And, actually, the Spec V Sentras do VERY well in the street touring class.

The seriously prepped Miatas (PCSP class) dominate every weekend at the events I attend. This past Saturday, this one got top raw time of the day and top PAX time of the day (by nearly half a second in both cases).

here's my G at the same event, BTW.

I've been keeping an eye out for a track car, too. My budget is nowhere near yours. Knock a zero off the end. I saw an early '90s Sentra 5-spd down the street from me with only 115k miles. I'm very tempted to go check it out.

some of the following ideas:
-evo
-sti
-s2000
-older nsx
-older porsche
-m3 (e46)

suggestions??????
evo hands down. Nothing matches it on a track. The 350z is actually a good pick as well (even though it didn't make your list)

you can find miata's with full coilovers and race suspension for under $2000. Plus, miata parts are cheaper than anything and you can find everything on the miata forums.

Check out those racecar magazines, they have tons of racecars for sale. Some years back, one of my friends bought a Bob Bondurant School Mustang for cheap and everything in the car complied to SCCA.

Not too long ago I seen a GT class 04 Z06 with C5R components, Cage...EVERYTHING a race car needs, including the trailer and extras, like another set of raw C5R heads, BBS Wheels to name a couple) going for $18k. We dont have a race track at the momment, but I sure as hell wouldve bought it we did have a track, then I wouldnt have bought my Titan. Rest assured I will refer back to the magazines and look through the race car ads when a track opens up again.

Also, if you have no intentions on driving the car on the street and just trailering in the car. Why not import an R34 Skyline overseas?

But of your choices, I would buy an later model NSX and get a hold of Comptech and unleash the Credit Cards. How can you argue against a car that has the approval and influence of Formula-1's,Ayrton Senna.
