Getting a track car!!!! need your help!

my dad just told me he wants to get a track/project car for us to work on/drive . he said something cheap but then he said under 25000 which i think is a ton to work with! my question is, what car? i have a ton of ideas but we want something first and foremost that can handle corners.

some of the following ideas:
-evo
-sti
-s2000
-older nsx
-older porsche
-m3 (e46)

suggestions??????

NSX is the best one out of all of those out of the box...

Mid engine TRUE DEDICATED track car.

A lot of the older RWD imports. 200SX, RX-7, Miata, Celica

Miata's in particular have an extensive cult following if your small enough to fit in one and meet the roll bar requirements for a convertable.

track as in AutoX, or track as in 1/4 or 1/8 straightline?

1/4 = Vette

AutoX = Audi or Evo

Is the $25,000 including the upgrades to the car? How much will you have to work with after you have purchased the car for modifications?

out the box, NSX and you would be competitive right away with no mods (as long as you keep in on the track )

Many track cars can be purchased used and "race-ready" for way under your budget. Check the SCCA website for your area. Keep the rest of the $$$ for mods and tires.

25,000 not including mods but i think the more we spend on the car the less we will spend on mods. and autox not straightline. and no corvettes.

Maybe take a look at the SCCA national rankings espically the stock classes. I'm sure there are trends in there for competitive cars. Too bad I'm slacking off at work and SCCA website is blocked for me

hmm, rx7 would be a great project.

nsx would look sick but be afraid to wreck it.

sti/evo too common.

elise, great track car might be able to find a cheap one around...
