Hey Folks,

I am trying to figure out what the widest A6 tire I can run on my OEM Sedan Sport 18 x 7.5 wheels. The

Hoosier Catalog shows these specs:

TIRE       &nbs p;         Wheel Width
P225/40ZR18  7.5-9.0"
P245/35ZR18  8.0-9.5"
P245/40ZR18  8.0-9.5"
P255/40ZR18  8.5-10.0"

This "suggests" the only tire I can run is the 225/40 but anyone who has autocrossed before has seen what the class leaders force onto the stock wheels. The tires look like they are about to pop off the damn wheel. I am thinking I can run the 245/40 without any issues. Is the 255/40 an option? Based on what I have seen, it may well be.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

You'd be stretching it for 245. To play it safe I would run the 225, if available you could run 235. I like the Kumho ecsta v700 for 18'' fitment. if just race tires you could drop to 35 series (stiff sidewall and lighter).

Thanks for the response. Well the stock tires are 235/45 so I know I will be fine with those, its just they are a rare size. There are a few more 235/40s out there but the 235 in general has less of a selection. The 225 does have a huge selection to choose from, especially in the used market. I am looking at used for now, you can get some good deals on good used tires. Just gonna shred them doing AX anyway. Thanks.
