Interesting Stock class change proposals.
Just got linked to this in an email from the NER solo group.

I:nteresting proposal to put the G35 coupe into FS. Here is the reasoning if you don't want to read the page.
"Comment: The Infiniti G35 Coupe is longer, heavier, and has a more intrusive traction control system than the Nissan 350Z."

FS seems to be a bunch of muscle that can't turn. Not really sure how the G would fit in there... it seems like it could just walk all over the place. Again, these are just proposed, not final. I could see CS maybe cause of the weight, but I don't have enough experience to really tell.
You need to read the section right above what you quoted. They are moving a whole bunch of cars into FS. Some are quite fast. Have you taken a look at S4 or M5 times recently?
Audi S4 V8 (04+) From AS to FS
BMW M5 ('00-'03) From AS to FS
Cadillac CTS-V From AS to FS
Ford Mustang SVT Cobra From AS to FS
Mercedes E55 AMG From AS to FS
Jaguar S-Type R From BS to FS
Audi S4 V8 (04+) From AS to FS
BMW M5 ('00-'03) From AS to FS
Cadillac CTS-V From AS to FS
Ford Mustang SVT Cobra From AS to FS
Mercedes E55 AMG From AS to FS
Jaguar S-Type R From BS to FS
I haven't ever seen an M5 on the road let alone autocross
. I guess my concern is more really that FS, at least around me, doesn't seem to have that many guys competing. I was looking at all the events and there was one guy with a Cobra and one guy with a Trans Am... this included looking for S4's and others listed. Think about the price of most of those cars, it's pretty high. I can't see the guys buying a E55 AMG showing up at your local autocross, you know? Same goes for M5, I haven't heard of many of them autocrossing at least. BS there are E36 M3's, RX-8's, 350z's and audi TT's all over the place, it was good competition. I realize the M5 with an equal driver could probably take the G35, but how many M5's would one run into at an autocross event... not too many.

Pwoz, where do you live? No M5's on the road? Sorry you don't have many cars to compete with. We have an E55 that showed up once (and a new S that did an awsome time), and a couple of S4's (one heavily modded.) The M5's they are talking about are now a few years old and the prices are starting to look pretty reasonable for the amount of performance. With the change in class the Mustangs may feel more competitive and start to show up. From what I have seen in the past, it looks like SCCA is going to revitalize FS for exactly the reason you are worried about. They want to develop more competition within the class, and more interest. We will have to wait and see. If you read the info in Sports Car (I don't remember what issue) there are some more cars that they are planning on moving into FS next year. But they are at the first stage, asking for comments. I guess that it will mean a whole new group of people to get to know. Right now, if I move into FS I will be in 1st or 2nd place depending upon my driving. Better than mid-pack I guess, but it is really all about the indexed points anyway. But I still don't want to have to buy new class numbers. Maybe STX??
I'm in Vermont right now. I'm sure there are M5's on the road I just haven't seen any. I go to the NER solo events and they at most, have had 3 people show up for FS, last one I was at there was 1 guy there, his first time just cause he wanted to try to get a better time than his friend. Oh well, as long as I get to drive
