Tales of addiction?

Since we're near the close of the season (up here anyway), it finally hit me that since April when I did my first HPDE on track, I've had 11 days of HPDEs, gone through 2 sets of r-compounds, and 2 sets of brakepads. I still have 2 more HPDEs remaining before I end the year!

Share your tales.

I know what you mean .....
  • Done five HPDE's for a total of eleven days this year and have one more (at least) to go and ....
  • would like to have done more events - but I only have so much cash! and ....
  • would like to do them every month all year around - but I don't have the cash or the nice weather to do so - one day though ....
  • and I would like my own 'trailer queen' but don't have a place to store the truck/SUV that that would need, not to mention the trailer! And finally ....
  • would like to own a Porsche 917 ....

I got it bad too - 12-step program here I come (right after the next event!)

I have been bit so bad that......I configured and put in for an Ariel Atom, but with a lysholm twin screw compressor, a quaife lsd, and different wheels with bigger tires, and a much bigger brake kit...13"rotors instead of 11", and Nitto NT-01 rubber. 350bhp on a 500kg chassis. She should do 0-60 in about 2.6 seconds and 0-100-0 in less than ten seconds. Plus a trailer, I already have the truck. I have about one week to change my mind before I am going to be irrevocably committed to the project.
The G Beast will stay, but be my fun car for daily or fun driving on the streets.
I like it, I love it, I want some more of it. Pray for my body, because my soul is already gone.

Nice! Isn't the tubing for the Atom illegal for any SCCA competition though?

Same here, but then I'd need to buy a new house to accomodate the trailer, track car, and truck! And that's just crazy talk...or is it...

A place for your trailer/SUV crazy talk? No .... yes .... maybe .... erm .... it's what I'm thinking about. I have a garage - but it only fits one car. Maybe I better get a second one.

The sad thing is (and Eagle1 and DeanG35c6 will testify to this) is that I have so many sets of brake pads that other G drivers call me when they run out.

I *think* I have six sets - I may have more.

Come to think of it I need a new cabinet for my brake pads.

As to that Atom Eagle1 - you are going from a 'missile' to what? What do you call something that is much faster than that insanely fast G you have now?

I too have caught the bug. Its been a year and I some major tracks and a good amount of hours under my belt. It has gotten expensive but its cheaper than tickets so it all works out I guess. Thanks to Eagle1 and Clint I have improved a lot on my times and planned to soon go to get my SCCA.

So I've done it...from my first HPDE to my first track car in under a year!

Me test fitting myself in it...and anticipating the awesome rotary power!!!!

From 3.5l torquey V6 to 1/3rd the engine capacity.

Streetported freshly rebuilt motor with 4000kms on it making 177hp to the wheels. Down on power compared to the G, but good times nonetheless.
