track day
Track rubber would be a nice improvement, but some musts I think are:
1. change your oil - you want the best oil for the track to take care of your engine. If your oil is pretty worn it won't protect your engine as well, and the track is as strenuous of an environment your car will see.
2. check your tire pressues - I'd bring a small pump/compressor and gauge to the track. I'm sure the AutoX nuts here can give you more advice.
3. check your brakes - pads, fluid. I'd actually reccomend changing your fluid. I boiled my fluid at my last track day which isn't good. Motul RBF 600 is the way to go (593F dry boiling point).
4. get rid of all the miscellaneous crap in your car. - pack of gum, pens, etc. that crap will fly around as you take turns hard.
5. depending on the track day format, you might want to tape up your headlights with painters tape/racing tape in case stuff gets kicked up.
Other than that, I think thats about all I did for my last couple track days. if you have an '05 or non-brembos, watch out for doing too many hot laps in a row, or you'll kill your brakes.

thanks for the reply. Is it best to have a good BBK before going to the tracks? I see that you ran laps with the 05 brakes. Didn't you end up only doing a couple of laps since the 05 brakes were impeding you?
I don't believe there aren't any other ppl that can give advice about tracking.
thanks.

I have an 04 non-Brembo and was wondering if it was necessary to replace my brakes with a BBK, or would it be OK just to replace the stock rotor with a XD/Slotted rotor and get new pads for the stock caliper.
the stock '05 brakes do not hold up well in a track environment. The pads are not track pads, and the cooling/heat capacity of the systm isn't geared for repeated hard braking events. The higher speeds you hit on the track, the moreso you'll probably need a brake upgrade. At buttonwillow I was getting up to 100mph or so on some of the straights (and I'm not all that skilled, so if you're good, you'll be going even faster), so you'll have a lot of speed to scrub off.
