Need pads for my 05 G35 6mt Sedan

Any recommendations? This has the bigger brakes compared to the 03-04 models. So there isn't many out there to select from. I have a track event coming up soon and I need to get some better pads on the front than the stock ones. Any links to vendors and pricing would help. Also would like some resonable pads not expensive ones that I can use for the street as well as the track that don't dust a lot or squeal.

I'm afraid that's a tall order - a pad that works well on track will not work well on the street. I use Porterfield R4 for the track - they're great but they dust and squeal.

Well if I can use them for the track that is fine. And won't eat the rotors. I can swap them back out with my stock ones then.

I have the Hawk HPS pads but this will be my first track event with them. From what I've heard some love them and some hate them. They are not a track pad but better than the OEM pads that came on the OEM Brembo's...

G35_TX ... are you going to be at the Motorsport Ranch on the 18th?? I'll be there with bells and have been wondering if any other G's are going to be out there!!!

I was going to go to the 18th event but due to personal family issues I can't make that event. So I am shooting for April 1st. The April 1st event is a bigger event for only $50 more bucks and its two days.

Where can I get the HPS pads from?

I have yet to find a pad for the 05/06 G. No brake pads or rotors are available other than OE. If you find one, please post it. Stoptech may be coming out with a rotor replacement. But I know of no company with plans for a pad.

Just order a pad with FMSI # 888 in the front and 588 in the rear. Porterfield definitely makes them in both R4S and R4 compounds (that's what I ran last year). Carbotech will make them too.

THANKS! I found the R4S compounds, but not the R4. I'll call them later today.

Yes, for '05. Number is on the website - http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/ Wendy usually answers the phones and she's very helpful. The R4 compound isn't listed on the site in that size but she'll have them made pretty quickly.

Bear in mind that the R4S is a great street/autox pad but they will not hold up to track temps. Definitely go with R4 for the track.

General brake question

I was always taught that you should surface the rotors EVERY time you change pads. Here I see you guys talking about swapping pads in and out for track/street. Don't you mess up the stopping power if the pads are not bedded in with a flat rotor. Don't the new pads wear prematurely?

You just sand the surface of the pad down some and the rotor a little and that helps them work again.

I called Wendy and 129 for the front and 79 for the rear for R4S. They have to make the R4 pads and it will increase the price dramtically. I really don't want to spend that much on pads for only the track when I hardly will ever go.

There has to be another solution.
