I've been to a few Mopar SRT events where the skip barber folks give you a very basic idea how to run through an autocross track with their SRT vehicles. Now I got the bug and I'm thinking about doing this with my G. But I really don't know where to start. Should I join the SCCA or some other national organization? Or would some local organization be better? I would also like to take a autocross driving class for a day or two, does anybody have any experience with doing this?
Thanks for the help.

Are you autocrossing for fun or for points/competition? If you auto-x for fun, I'd just join one of the local chapters. You should start by checking out all the local clubs in your area and see which one you like the best. The clubs in my area vary greatly in how they run their auto-x. Join the one that has the most fun/events. Some are just dedicated to auto-x, while some throw in HPDEs as well.
I went to an auto-x class. It's worth it. I'm not sure about the evolution performance school, but your local groups might have a novice school with limited participants. You really get focused time with an instructor both in the car and while working the course. They point out what you should look for in other drivers like what they are doing wrong and what they are doing right.
