Is there enough silicone to seal backtogether without leaks?

 

no i didnt think there was
so i used some extra silicone to seal after i finished

 

is it really necessary to take all the lights out in order to bake them? i have the directions from aacstyle.com to install my demon eyes and it looks like they just put them in the oven with the lights and everything still in there.

 

actually i just read in another thread posted by ttrank that he has put his lights in the oven many times at around 200 degrees with all the wires and bulbs still in for about 15 minutes with no problems.

just to be safe,
ive done this on many cars
and the way i was thought is take out all the bulbs and ballasts
cuz if theyre gone then ur out a good amount of money

 

i drive an IP coupe. do you guys think the headlights would good painted white?

 

emm wouldnt look badd, but im not sure if it would look good either
cant really picture it but wouldnt look to different cuz its allready metalic

 

im gonna try it out on a broken headlight i have sitting around to give me a better idea of how itll look. im really leaning towards the idea of doing it. ill post pics later.

 

I did this last friday and I can provide a few tips / insight.

The socket size you need is 10mm for the bolts to get the headlights off. One thing that took me like 2 hours to figure out was removing the actual headlight. The instructions say to unclip the wiring from the back and pull the whole headlight forward. The entire 1-2inch black section slides off the back of the light, then you can push in a screwdriver to detach it from the car.

Also you said you have to unscrew the yellow groud wire, All I did was turn that big silver thing to the right or left and it popped off. I took the bulb out and that was it. I didnt unscrew the balast or anything light that.

I turned the oven to 225 degrees and left them in for about 15-20minutes cause i was afraid heh, I was able to pry the lights open with a screw driver until i realized more heat made it much easier.

After I took the lights apart I painted my housings black then windexed the inside of my lights because i had fingerprints all over them. Got everything back in then smashed the lights back together using my hands so it would fit back in the oven. I let them back for another 10-15 min then pulled them out and actually used some vice grips to get everything in snug.

I did not use any extra silicon or anything like that and I was good to go.

Overall this mod took me about 4-5 hours but If I had to do it again I could get the lights completely off in like 20min. Take your time and be patient it really turns out great when you are finished.

 

well u only need to do this mod once but the time gets decreased easily by half the second time.
takes me a while cuz im to safe and make sure everythiing is off and ready to be installed again.

u dont need more silicon but doesnt hurt to have some around just incase

 

Great write-up, I justed opened up my lights and separated everything, I think I will spray flat black, thinking about cut off mod too since the lights are open...

damnint...i shall do this... i might get me and mike...aka mscircle or something i think were goin to try and wrap it in cf....or some parts of the headlights.... wish us luck hahah!!!!
