DIY LED headlight thread
any suggestion as to how bright the LEDs should be?
5000mcd? 10000mcd? i have no idea
i don't want them to overpower the headlights, but i don't want them to look too weak either

One recommendation though, that **** gets everywhere. You'll have to wear gloves while taking them apart since they'll be extremely hot, I just wore cheap mechanix gloves.
So if one LED goes out, then the series of LED goes out too. Wow!
How many times did you have to change set of LED's? That seems to much of a hassle. But I'd want to take on this project.
Are LED fragile?

Hey guys, just as a little update:
A year later and the LEDs still look great. Only downside is use something other than velcro to hold them in, they kind of recess because it wasn't sticky enough to hold them in. Also, one set of LEDs has gone out recently, no big deal, just have to pull them apart and play with it some more.
And to answer about paint, I used high temp flat black paint from Kragen (O' Rileys). I doubt it really needs to be high temp paint, but I like the color the best out of all the flat blacks I've used.

A quick fix for the directional led beams is to use a fine grit sandpaper on the bulbs to give them a frosted look.
