DIY: Fuel Door Actuator Lock Removal / Clean-Lube / Replacing

Be sure that you've got power to the solenoid. If your door locks are working, power probably is NOT the issue. Make sure that the connection is good.
It's been a few years since I wrote this. Good luck! Please let me know if it worked for you. If you're not hearing anything, this could (and very likely will) fix your problem. It seems to be a common issue. I probably have my repaired one around somewhere. I bit the bullet and bought a new one BEFORE attempting the fix. I should have operated on the old one first. Could have saved myself around $90.

Anyone know where I can buy a replacement motor? My brushes are shot, I spent an hour trying to clean them enough that the motor would start up at any position but no luck. I used some sand paper on the brushes and contact part of the motor but still no luck, anyone have any recommendations or know what model this little micro motor is? I looked on ebay and couldn't find anything similar

I was cleaning the actuator on my daughter's car today; it stopped working (again!) a few days ago.
It will lock but not unlock now.
You can try to fit a similarly rated motor within the body of the unit but the time that you invest is probably not worth replacing the whole actuator with a used one.
There's no guarantee it will work.
Or, you can do what we propose to do and just open the trunk and pull the pin back.
Something of a pain but I would rather put $75 towards gas than this goofy lock.
