Brakes fade after rotor and pad change

I took my car to the dealer yesterday and they changed the pads and the rotors. I get it back today and while cruising on the freeway i notice a weird smell. I exit right away and notice that a lot of smoke is coming out of my brakes. There was so much smoke that u literally couldn’t see the wheels on the car. I call the dealer immediately and they had the car towed to them. I describe the situation again, they said that it is normal for the brakes to smoke like that. Long story short i get the car the way it was and drive it home. More i drive it less the smoke and the fade smell gets.

My question is did u guys experience anything like that?

New pads and new rotors or just newly trued rotors need a short period to transfer the brake pad film to the rotor..............we usually tell customers that the first 200 miles will be different unless they intentional go thru the exacting bedding process.

Happens on all makes and models...........a function of new pads and rotors...depends on driving style........how hot you get them..........needs at least 5 back to back 60-5mph ABS brake applications.
