will 225/40/18 fit g35 stock front 18" rim?

Hi I am new to this and hopefully someone can help me with my question, can I put 225/40/18 to my stock 18" rim? I know I have to put 225/45/18 but I purchase a pair of GoodYear Eagle tire for my rear, but i didn't realize until today that brand I got doesn't have 225/45/18, they only make up to 225/40/18XL.

Will my stock rim able to fit 225/40/18 tire?

Thanks

I would think it will fit but it might look a little weird.

245/40/18 has the same OD as the 225/45/18, and will fit just fine. The 225/40/18, will have an OD that is too small. The 245/40 will reduce the understeer handling characteristics somewhat and make the car more neutral in handling. You'll keep the stock stagger.

Changing the stagger will also screw up the VDC - even with it turned off. You wouldn't believe how small a difference in stagger can affect it!

Shouldn't be a problem, but I think you might want 225/45 or 225/50 series not 40. My stock 6MT sedan came with 235/45-18" so to keep the same OD you need to increase the aspect ratio not decrease to 40 series when you go to 225mm wide.

I am considering going wider to 245 and will then need to drop my aspect ratio to 40 series to keep same OD of tire.
