So the shims will help with the forward/backward motion of the pad within the caliper? Either way I can't justify paying that kinda money for shims...

Yeah, if you didn't have stock Brembo's you could probably just buy the front OEM brakes off a non-brembo car from someone that upgraded. Sorry dude, you might just have to buy some shims. The dealer should have them, but then again, the dealer pads might not be as desireable for the pre 2005 brakes.
