Brakes Clunking?

I just installed new front and rear Project MUs about 2 months ago. Ever since the first day I installed them, most of the time when I step on the brakes you can here the brake pads slamming against the rotors making a "clank" sound. Anyone knows why this is?

How well did oem shims fit the mu pads? Is mu pad backing plate an exact copy to the thousanths of an inch in all directions?

I was not sure if I was to reuse the rear shims or not so I left them out. I'm going to have to put them back in b/c I'm getting occasional squealing. But as far as the backing of the MU pads being identical as the OEM, I'm not sure as I did not compare them. You really think that these are the cause the the "clanking"?

a "clunking" noise will not be caused from a anti-squealing shim.

you have to first figure out where is the nosie exactly coming from. LF, RF, LR or RR.

then u can take of the wheel and check for loose parts, or maybe u just need to lube the back of pads, or sliding pins.

duplicated the noise, and try to pin point the exact area.

good luck!!!!!!!!

The shims are primarily a heat transfer insulator beteen pad backing plate and caliper piston along with a tuned vibration [NOISE] dampener.
