New Enkei Rims

I normally never ask for opinions on how stuff looks cuz i like to keep my own style, but I'm seriously stuck on whether I should buy the SBC Enkei RPF1's or the Gold. I dont want silver cuz thats the color of my stock rims and I want my rims to stand out. I dont wanna look ricey, so the gold may make the car seem that way, but I kinda wanna stay away from the chrome cuz its been done a lot already and I'm not too big on chrome anyway. What do u guys think?

Why Enkeis..............?

Awile ago I gave my son a set of Enkeis for his
birthday. After a few months they looked like ****!
The last wheels on my 300ZX TT were Zegins and
a few weeks after install I discovered the quality
was terrible. Save your $ until you can afford good
high quality rims....cheap isn't the way to go! You'll
thank me when you install Volks....IForged....HRE's.
LOL

I would have to in general disagree about inexpensive wheels. I put a set of 8.5/18 RS Limited wheels on my 03 Nissan Altima, my commuter car (almost 4 years ago). I paid $1100 wheels and tires (245/45/18) mounted and balanced and they look like new with the exception of one curb rash on one wheel.

I bought a set of Speedy Envy wheels 8.5/19 and 9.5/19, 20mm offset in hypersilver dark for my 06 G35 coupe. IMHO the fit and finish is excellent and they seem to be built very well. They are not expensive wheels but they still look like new as I would expect the same reliability like the RS Limited on the Altima.

The main benefit of more expensive wheel is usually they are forged rather than being a cast rim which gives them greater strength and lighter weight and forged wheels are more costly to manufacture. Weight makes a huge difference when it comes to handling and braking but I'm not an aggressive driver so I wouldn't see the benefit as much.

Whatever floats your boat......Volks, Maya, Racing Hart, IForged, Lowenhart, Enkei, etc.

a few year ago.. i had a toyota solara.. i had a set of Excel, Volks, and TRD rims.. the Enkei was the last set i purchased and i drove it with extreme caution.. seriously tho.. i honestly could say the quality makes a huge difference.. we all kno that our cars are pretty much a heavyweight car.. if u get something cheap.. a little bump can dent ur rims.. the Excel (cheapest) and TRD (well.. not as cheap.. tat was actually pretty expensive) and Volks (i saved up months for) went down on the following fate:

Excel - hit a BIG pothole cuz my dump @$$ friend can't drive.. a whole chunk came out.. i'm talking about it looking like a pie of pizza with a slice taken away

TRD - i thought i'd be a good set seeing that it's TRD.. but nope.. i hit a sewer cap.. which happens to be a little lower.. it dented and cost me more than anything cuz i caugh a flat in new york city.. towing and mounting a new tire almost got me to cry

Volks - I drove very carefully with it.. that set lasted for more than a year and a half and i sold it..

so as u can see.. u're paying for the quality.. cheap stuff ins't what u want when it comes to rims..

I dont know if u guys kno, but Houston is all concrete roads. Most every other place is asphalt. Tho the over all ride is rougher and louder on concrete, we rarely have any pot holes or major bumps to worry about. So wheel strength is important, but im not gonna pay another couple hundred bucks for it. The reason I'm going with Enkei, is number one, they're light as hell, so I'm saving 10 pounds per corner. Two, their cheap. Three, I dont know, but they look like an over all good choice.

All I wanted to know, is which color was better. The chrome finish is going out the window, now its the F1 Silver or the WRX gold.

I think the RPF1 are pretty nice wheels. Some guys are using them for their track wheels as they are fairly lightweight.

BTW, what colour vehicle do you have? If it's black or ivory pearl, then I would definitely say get the gold, as it will stand out.

In general I like the silver better but would like to know what color your car is. As mentioned above, gold looks great with IP.

I always thought my Enkei RPF1's look like Scion Tc stockers. I bought them more for the lightweight characteristics. Here's a pic.

I almost bought the RPF's for my sedan because they are really light and very strong. But the more I looked at them, the uglier they got. Just my opinion though. I think they are a great wheel for track use, just dont have the looks for a street wheel. On some cars, they look good, but on my sedan, no way!
