8 Piston?
I'm in the market for new brakes. For curiosities sake, I was wondering if 8 piston brake kits even exist for the G35.
P.S. I don't want to sound newbish, but cans omeone give me a clear definition and benefits of having rotors cross-drilled/slotted/vented?

Drilled is for cooling, slots are for "gasing" meaning theoretically it is suppose allow gases to escape as the pad is pressed against the rotor. Vented is also for cooling. I believe the Rotora 8 piston kit comes with 15" rotors too.
Megan Racing also makes an 8-piston front brake kit, with I believe a 6-piston rear kit. No one has really used it yet though.
The purposes of cross-drills is for keeping the rotor temps down. The cons to cross-drills though are the rotors are more prone to cracking, and you lose ~33% of your surface area. I see it as counter productive to get a big brake kit, and then take the surface area away. Cross-drills will not really provide much needed cooling as your brakes will not get that hot anyway. Unless you are planning to run Le Mans 24hrs or something. Even for AutoX, or track days, you will see very little benefits from cross-drills.
Slots are used to let the gases escape from between the pad and rotor. Sometimes, when you brake(this can happen as soon as 1 very hard brake from high speed) a thin layer of gas will form between the pad and the rotor as you are braking, this will obviously cause a loss in brake performance as the gas tries to esacpe around the pad. These slots are on the rotor and pass under the pad as it spins and lets the gases out. The cons to having slotted rotors is they eat your pads up a little faster.
With that said, IMO, I only run slotted rotors on all my cars, as I believe thats all I really need. Since the gassing can occur as quickly as 1 hard stop, the slots will play a beneficial role in that case. Cross-drills are just not worth the loss of surface area as your brakes will never get hot enough to need cooling from the cross-drills. Thats my 2 cents.

Thats what pissed me off about getting an 06, they stopped putting the brembos on it. I think the Brembos look great on the car, and I think that these stupid silver ones look like crap on the 06's. I need a nice cheap BBK or something.
Yeah, the Brembos were only avail. '03-'04. I bought my car at the end of '04, so I had a choice between '04 and '05, the Brembos were one of my deciding factors.
You can pick up a set of used OEM Brembos if you can find them, still cheaper than a BBK all around. I think Megan Racing is probably the cheapest one you can get.

I got the Racingbrake 13" 4-pot front/13" oem caliper rear kit through a buy on this forum last year. They are one of the least expensive kits and I have been extremely happy with them.
