Offset question

The stock 18s on my 6MT I believe are 33mm offset, correct? I am running 25mm spacers all around (looks GREAT!), so I am technically at +58 offset now?

My question is if I upgrade to 19s, and they are wider than the stocks, let's say 1" wider, does that inch add to the offset?

Did that make any sense?

No your at +8 offset now. If you are upgrading to stock 19's then you "should" (dont quote me on that) be able to keep the spacers on the rear. The fronts may rub. Not 100% sure tho.

your 18's are +30, so technically your current offset is +5mm. The width of the wheels plays a part in the fitment of the overall set up, but the OFFSET plays a larger role to ensure the fitment is right. What exactly are you looking at doing? if you post more info, we'll be able to help better.

I want to possibly get some 19s, but definitely don't want them to sit inside the fenders like my stock 18s used to. With 25mm spacers my stock setup looks awesome and I get compliments ALL the time.

Chico is correct you are now at 5mm offset. If you go to a 1" wider wheel technically you are not adding 1" to the offset. Think of the wheel as being 2 halves, putting the hub closer to the fender gives you more positive offset conversely putting hub deeper in the more negative offset. 1" wider wheel equals about 26mm, which split in half is 13mm. Based on the same wheel with 30mm offset that is 1" wider with the spacer you would be at a -8 offset. That same wheel without the spacer would be at +17mm offset. Depending on the design of the wheel the 1" could be placed in total to give you all positive or negative offset or in my example I split the difference to illustrate how offsets work.

If you are going to 19" rims get the correct offset and toss the spacers. IMHO, you get rid of one issue (the spacers) and to top it off you'll get a wider lip on your wheels.

I'm not sure if I answered your question to your satisfaction. Offset is determined by where the center hub is located, if it's dead center of the wheel then it has 0 offset. No matter how wide the rim is, move the center hub in either direction you now have positive or negative offset.

Go to www.rim-n-tires.com and at the lower right hand corner there's a link called "size comparer" click on that link and the info is invaluable. You can put in rim and tires sizes and it give you all the info you need as far as offsets and clearances etc. CHECK IT OUT, IT WILL REALLY HELP YOU UNDERSTAND HOW ALL THE SPECS WORK.

This will help...you can play with the sizes and offsets.
