AXXIS or Akebono brake pads

Ready for new front pads and rotors for my '04 5AT. Will be going with stock calipers and new slotted rotors, think I will pass on the caliper extension project this time around. My search has pulled brake pads down to a few choices, any real world feedback on AXXIS Ultra pads or Akebono Pro ceramics (from Tire Rack)? I have not seen a lot of discussion of these on the Forums. Back brakes are still in good shape. I don't track the car but it is a daily driver, so Nismo or Project MU may be overkill. Thanks.

I don't know about Akebono. But i did had Axxis Ultra Brake pads overall it's a good quality/ strong brake pad. Allthough Axxis Ultra pad makes some serious brake dust in the front. Also a word of advice since you gonna upgrade your rotors & brake pads, well while you at it i strongly suggest you also change to all four Stainless Steel brake line.

SS brake lines on the list! Didn't want the thread too wordy. I hear good things on AXXIS, StopTech uses them I read.

Slotted rotors will wear the [any brand] pads faster.

So called high Ceramic of any brand [Axxis or Akebono] are not useful at very high temperatures [> 800F] and tend to transfer film in uneven layers when used at high temperatures.

Almost every pad compound [including semi metallics] has some ceramic components in the blend. Just a marketing term without the exact chemical composition and percentages.

Whenever you change the pad friction vs temperature vs application speed between front and rear systems you change the wear rate and stopping distances especially cold [less than 200F].
