Painting rotors center...

I just ordered Project Mu 2 piece rotors. There is one thing that realy bothers me about them. The center is a ugly blue/green and will not match my car or anyones car for that matter. I would like to just paint them black but need assistance on the proper steps.

I know I need high temp paint but how high? 800 deg 1200 deg? How do I prep the rotors for painting? I know I need to mask off everything very well but do I have to strip the paint all the way to bare metal? Or should I just skuff it up pretty good? Should I use a primer?

Any help would be greatly appricated. Thanx in advance!

remove the old paint as much as possible. rough sand paper or bead blast it with plastic media if you have access to one. glass beads will tear up the surface and plastic will knock off paint. once you scuff it up real good, clean everything off with alcohol to get any oils/dirt off. mask it off and apply your high temp primer and paint. 1200 won't hurt anything and i don't think there's a price difference. some higher temp primers/paints have to bake for an hour or so for it to cure but you can do that in your home oven. it'll be easier if you do it while they're new.

Do you ever take your car to the track? If you do, then get as high temp of paint as possible. When I cooked my rotors on the track, the rotor surfaces were reading well over 1000 deg F. Granted you shouldn't be seeing those temps on a normal track day if you don't fry your brakes, but to play it safe, I'd get the highest temp paint you can find. Hell, even my calipers were something like 600 deg or so. As for the prep, I have no idea, though theres a bunch of people here who have done it, hopefully someone can help you out.

I dont track just drag. So using my brakes that much pretty much will never happen.

So I will mask the rotors, sand off all exsisting paint and clean with soap water then alcohol. Then prime with high temp primer then paint with high temp paint thin layers.

So that process sound pretty good right? Nothing im missing? Thanx for the replys soo far!
