stoptech stage 2, pads included

I ordered the StopTech stage 2 kit and ended up with Axxis ULT ceramic instead of the Hawk HPS pads that were shown on the website when I ordered. I wanted the Hawk HPS since I heard they were low dust and gentle on rotors.

The OEM pads were terrible dust with the front wheels but how would the Axxis ULT compare? Should I get them to send the HPS instead?

Katana,

What is the part number of the kit you ordered? Also, was the kit purchased from us directly or through on of our resellers?

As for your question about brake dust, I cant compare exactly to stock but the Axxis pads you have are on the dusty side and may be the same or worse than stock in that regard. The amount of initial bite however will be increased significantly.

bfan13,

Be sure that you have completed a full bed in procedure to keep the noise levels down as outlined on our website here:

Sometimes aftermarket companies substitute a safer COLD WEATHER pad depending upon where you live because buyers don't understand the friction vs temperature curve required for their locality.

Oem pads must work in extreme cold conditions by law as opposed to aftermarket pads which have ZERO requirements to function at any temperature.

Buying a racing or track pad is a sure way to create bad braking in cold weather.

The pad dust is primarily the carbon particles which create the cold stopping ability. Brake dust is a requirement in the EU [Germany] since colder weather is the norm.

One major problem has been the NEW REQUIREMENT to drop various metal fillings from pads [copper, zinc, and antimony] as this causes water pollution from street run off from brake pad dust. Carbon/Iron is all that is safe to use.
Ceramics can still run Titanium dioxide.

All depends on the cold vs hot friction curve desired.

Hi there,

I bought it through Concept Z but it was shipped directly from StopTech n Torrance, CA.

The part number is STP86.646.03224 I think. Everything on I saw on Concept Z's website indicated it would be the Hawk HPS pads. If you have a way to replace with the proper pads without involving me to pay for shipping charges again, please let me know. I just sent you a PM with the invoice number. Thanks.

I've actually tried the bed-in process twice and the squealing goes away for a bit, then it will come back

I had your exact problem as well. I tossed in some Hawk HPS pads and the problem went away permanently.
