Brake Question...just left dealer

OK I just came back from the dealer and they checked my brakes and said that the pads were aftermarket already and they were ok. So I don't need brakes but...

They said the Anti Rattle Springs weren't installed right???

What are those....like shims?

Yeah, I wonder how they were installed wrong. Now I only have experience with Brembo's, so if you have brembo's then you can see the spring in the top of the Caliper. I don't think it's a safety concern, but it helps keep everything where it's supposed to be. Basically you have 2 pins in your calipers that hold the pads in (pads have 2 loops on the top of them), but the shafts aren't a tight fit into the caliper, they are made to come out fairly easy. They are held in place by E-clips and the spring just applies some pressure so they don't rattle and move around. It's fairly easy to fix, just jack up the car and take the wheel off, pull the one e-clip off the one pin and pull the pin out. Pull the spring out that rests between the two pins and flip it over cause it's probably just upside down. Then you have to push it down while you slide the pin back in and put the E-clip back on.

Of course if you don't have brembo's then I'm sure it's different.

The spring I'm talking about isn't a coil spring, it's just a flexed flat piece of metal with bends in it to make it spring. Looking at the non-brembo set-up, I'm not sure exactly what they are talking about. Maybe object 14 on this diagram?
