OEM rotors versus Brembo rotors ?!

I have an 04 Coupe with the Brembo braking system. It's time to replace the rotors and brake pads in the front (54k miles) and I did some searches to find out a lot of places that sell the Brembo slotted or Brembo cross-drilled rotors.

I just want to replace my original Brembo rotors with exactly the same type of Brembo rotors that came from the factory (smooth surface, not drilled or slotted). The cross-drilled/slotted rotors are Brembo, my original rotors from the factory are also Brembo so it's getting confusing as to which ones should I use.

Anyway, does anyone have any good advise as to where can I buy original factory Brembo rotors and pads ? Again, NOT the cross-drilled or the slotted rotors but just, the plain smooth-surface original factory installed Brembo rotors that came with the car.

Anything that would help would be appreciated.

Thanks !

i thought tirerack.com had 'em, but it looks like the only brembo's they have are bbk's or the slotted/drilled. they have frozen rotors that are blank, but cryo treated.

I'm not sure if they (cross-drilled/slotted) require special Brembo pads or do the original (factory-installed) Brembo pads are good for any type of Brembo rotor (cross-drilled, slotted, factory-installed, etc) ? I don't want to put cross-drilled or slotted Brembo rotors and factory-installed Brembo pads just to realize 1,000 miles down the road that I need to change the pads again.

So, I'm looking for something similar in price for the factory installed Brembo rotors with their corresponding Brembo pads.

Any timely response would be appreciated as I'm starting to run out of time.

Thanks.

stock pads will work fine with the slotted/drilled rotors. i'm unsure of how much more dust (if any) will be an issue.

Have you thought about resurfacing your rotors? Getting new rotors isnt necessary..pending how much the material the pads have taken off. I dont know what's the minimum thickness before you have to change rotors. Maybe someone else can chime on in on that. On top of that...it's cheaper. Are you going to change the pads or keep using the existing pads? Not much info on what's going on with your pads. If anything..if youre reusing your pads (assuming there's a lot left in them)...sand them down till the any grooves have flattend out. Or just get new pads.

I recently had a brake pad seperate from the the holding plate, causing the metal holding plate to grind down my rotor ('04 coupe with Brembos).

I took the opportunity to upgrade my pads to the Hawk pads, which significantly reduce brake dust. I also skipped the dealer on the Bremo overpriced rotors and bought the slotted Brembos from tire rack.

However, I was able to turn down my damaged rotor so I returned the TireRack rotors. However, when I do need rotors that is the route I am taking.

Thanks everybody for all responses. I was told that the rotors are at their minimum width (28mm) and they cannot be resurfaced (hence, my research to get new rotors). Also, I wouldn't mock around with the pads, if they're not good, I'll just replace them. The rotors gave me the most problems because of their outrageous dealer price.

I think I'll order the slotted Brembo rotors from Tirerack (I still don't know where one can buy the factory installed smooth-surface original Brembo rotors ... I guess, it will remain a mystery !!!) and buy the original pads from the dealer.

Unless anybody else has some additional comments and/or ideas ...

I'd buy the pads from Tire Rack too. I run Hawk HPS and love them.
Brakes from the dealership are the biggest ripoff of all time.
