Troubleshooting suspension
Troubleshooting suspension
Ladies and Gentlemen-
I hit the curb doing 20 mph with my front right tire. Now at 30mph i fell a throbing vibration coming from the front wheel in question and i hear a pop whenever i hit bumps.
The steering is fine and so is the aligment (it does pull in either direction). i did a visual inspection and everything seems to be in place; however, when I kick the tire its has some play to it.
Any ideas what I may have F*** up?
Thanks

you should probably do more than just kick the tire for troubleshooting. It is hard to say what you did, but you should get it up on a lift and take off the wheel. Do a FULL visual inspection as well as even take the tire off of the rim to be sure you didn't dent that. Check your springs too, to be sure you didn't crack those or damage the rubber isolators. Check your shocks for leaking; also steering rack, A-arm, etc.
I am not sure what you mean by the tire having play in it.

I removed the tire and inspected the suspension. I could not see anything that was out of the ordinary. Also, I rotated the rear wheel to the front and the throbbing vibrations persisted, so I guess I can rule out a warped rim.
Is it possible that i may have warped the rod (forgive my lack of mechanical terminology) that holds the wheel and allows it to spin?
Thanks,

I think we have all wheel independent suspension, so it would be called a half-shaft. Those are usually pretty strong, but anything is possible.
If you haven't had it re-alinged, I would do that. There can be other things an alignment fixes other than a pull to either side. Have them check Camber/Caster/Toe, etc. When hitting curbs and bumps that is usually the first thing that goes.
