Best Brake Pads
Best Brake Pads
Hey I am on a tight budget after a $600 repair (mostly nit-picking) bill and some other debt i am taking care of but I was told by the stealership I need front brake pads (they wanted $160 so i said no). What do you reccomend for the best pads with the least dust and the quietest with oem or better performance. Not interested in racing pads or anything too expensive. Thanks guys!!

i put on EBC greenstuff pads. they are very quiet and are pretty cheap. there is still a little bit of dust, but it will only be noticeable after a month or so. much less dust than stock. whatever you get, just have them put on properly or they will squeek

Hawks are great if you follow the "HowTo's"

wrong. If you do a search prior to install the answers are on this site, that's

the quietest with oem or better performance ??
At what temperature and application speed? Unlikely you will find anything that works cold [under 100F]...........friction function of pad temperature and application speed [difference between rotor and stationary pad].

So do we think Hawk are better than Green Stuff?? I also will need 2 front rotors, stick with OEM here? I need to keep this as cheap as possible without sacrificing quality.
Also what could you do during a brake pad install wrong that would make them squeal worse?

I just installed Project Mu Type-NS. So far they are great, dead quiet, and so far no dust. With the OEM pads, I would've had to clean my wheels by now
So far they seem to grip just as well as OEM, except much smoother.
I also put on Akebono ProACT Ceramics on my wife's Acura TL, as well as my daily driver Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. In the pontiac, they have much better cold-bite than the Hawk HPS that were on there before. (I used to blow past the stop sign in my cul-de-sac accidently everytime I switched from the G to the GTP, until I put the Akebonos on there.
The akebonos are quiet, and produce minimal dust as well... (I got them from tirerack) I got the Project Mu from mynismo.
