Camber kit needed? 350Z HTech & Tokico D-Spec

Hi everyone. So after many hours of researching i have decided that I will lower my 05 6MT coupe using tein 350Z Htech springs and Tokico D-spec DSP-9 shocks. It seems like most people are really happy with this setup.

However, I am still unable to find a definite answer on whether I would need a camber kit with this setup as well. I am concerned with having uneven tire wear, but am kind of unsure if the cost of a camber kit is really worth it.

Those of you running with this setup, do you feel like a camber kit is needed? How is your alighnment looking?

I appreciate everyone imput. Thanks!

*Edit* I do not plan on doing the spring mount mod.

If you don't do the springmount mod, then you'll probably be okay without camber kits, but if you want an even drop and do the springmount mod in the rear, you'll need at the very least a camber kit in the rear to get back in spec

I think if you search it.. Yoy will see Red hit the nail on the head

Some guys are within spec and some are not (without springmount mod)

What I dont understand is. Why swap out for DSpecs when you
will have a very close match to OEM with Z HTechs?
If your going to spend some $$$$ maybe just do coilovers
instead?

G/L

I was under the impression that the tokico d-specs would work much better with the Z htechs than the OEM shocks. I was kind of concerned with the wear and tear on the OEM shocks if i only switched out springs.

Would my shocks be OK in just changing out springs?

Thanks BadBoy

I, for instance, am one of those guys who was not within spec. Yes, I did do the springmount mod, but I wasnt within spec before that also, which is why I did the springmount mod. I needed the camber kit anyway, so why not. Many people have been able to get back within spec with these springs, but it seems like lately most people have not. So you are better off getting the rear camer kit with the springs and doing the install all at once, trust me, you will save money.

Yes, your shocks will be fine with those springs, but they do work better with the D specs. More dampening.

I thought most people were having issues with their front camber being out of spec?

Is this more or a case by case basis where people are seeing front/rear/both camber issues?

I dont track my car, so I am really looking for best bang for the buck while still keeping everything in spec.

D-specs will help perfomance even on stock springs. If you have the cash to shell out for them, definetly get them. Z-htechs + d-specs IMO is a better combo than a cheaper coilover system such as the tein basics because they offer handling adjustable rather than height, which isn't as important if you are satisfied with the drop from the Z htechs. I personally would install a camber kit on the rear no matter the drop because even people who get back into specs barely do, and the SPC kit allows the camber and toe to be set precisely

what are you bumping it for? we answered your question. You may or may not need it, depending on the individual car and where you want your camber and toe settings to be.

IM new to the g35, but why do people put 350z springs on the g35? Wouldnt the g35 have a stiffer spring rate due to the added weight of the car or a taller spring? So is the front able to be aligned without a front camber kit if the car is dropped roughly one inch?

Some G35 springs are softer than stock (Tein G35 H-Techs), but most other companies don't have separate models for the G and Z. Read the sticky at the top of the Brakes & Suspension section here for more info on spring rates.

For the G and Z, there is no camber adjustment from the factory up front and only a little camber adjustment in the rear.

IMO, when dropping a G or Z, it's better to spend an extra $650 or so for front and rear camber kits. You'll likely save money in the long run by not having to replace your tires so often due to inside wear.
