Cheap or Good Rear Rotors?
Cheap or Good Rear Rotors?
Helo y'all.
Being a newbie to this forum and to the ownership of a 2003 G35 Sedan, I have a question, if you don't mind. My mechanic says the rear rotors and pads are shot (says they can't be cut due to some sort of plating issue or whatnot ??!!? - is he right?) 21000 miles. Since the concensus is that the car eats brakes, do you recommend standard Autozone etc. rotors or going a bit higher in terms of pads and rotors? I don't do all that much beating on the car (i.e. street racing) or other stuff, but I'd like to keep the performance up to snuff (damned Chicago drivers!) I'll probably do the work myself (with help from a qualified friend). In addition, he says the spacers and the shims were missing (WTF), so I need those as well. Any information or guidance would be helpful, as I'm in over my head. What can I say, just fell in love with the car
Probably should have done more homework but that's the way it goes.
TIA

Welcome! I live in Aurora, but work downtown...Metra does wonders for my G
Anyway, I had the same issue, where my rear pads/rotors started to make a grinding noise...I went ahead and replaced all 4 corners with R1 Concepts rotors and Stillen pads. Ordered parts online, and brought it to NTB to do the installation--Total for all 4 corners came to about $500. Performance is fine--didn't feel any drop-off from OEM. Brake dust is a lot less too (Thankfully!) The dealer did try to pin a "clunk" sound on my aftermarket brakes, but I think they were reaching, and the sound has since gone away, so I really have no complaints...of course mine were slotted/cross-drilled, but if you get regular rotors, they may not be able to tell...Good luck!

Have your front rotors and pads being changed before?
Cuz front mostly wear out faster then rear.........mostly.
So if you have original front that are in good condition then I believe your rear should be in good condition
