Bearing by the rear differential is leaking?... (PIC)

1 Attachment(s)
So, looks like there is a bearing to the rear from the rear differential, connecting the rear of the differential to the chassis brace. And my bearing is leaking - there is thin (not too oil-like) black-ish liquid coming out from under the bearing seal. How critical is this, and what the hell is that bearing called?... Any help is appreciated...

/edit found this thread:

good info there, as well as solutions.

Yes, those rear diff bushigns are filled with silicone. It can rip and leak with enough abuse. Good news is they are replaceable. Bad news is you have to take down the rear subframe to replace the bushing. Read this on my350z not too long ago.

SPL also makes a solid replacment bushing if you want to go that route but it will introduce a mess of noise into the cabin.

that's exactly it. silicone liquid leaking from the other side of this bearing (see attached)... - no, it's not my G, obviously - i stole the pic from the my350z thread above. ;)

that is one nice suspension setup... how much would all that (bushing /brace/ etc) run??

you bothered to type a response, not bothing to read the post. your question needs to go into the my350z thread.

dont get all pissed off dude. i thought it was nice, and just wanted know how much it would cost. do you have warrante? you have to take it into the shop anyways to get that fixed... just replace it, hope you know a good mechanic. GL.

i don't get pissed off, dude. i was pointing out the obvious.

no, i'm out of warranty. i'll get a couple of quotes first, before i decide which route to go.

Wow, I learned something today. I was under the impression the bushing was solid rubber not silicone filled.

Codeflux your best bet may be to look at junkyards.

Let us know how it turns out. I have a leak back there too and was not sure what it was. I need to look again.

I've got all three of the SPL solid diff bushings and it's not that bad noise wise. You do get some diff whine in the cabin but it's certainly tolerable. If you just replaced the leaking one then i would think the noise would be even less. I can't remember the price on the entire subframe, but seeing as Nissan doesn't sell just a replacement bushing this was a cheaper fix for me that I'll never have to worry about doing again.

you can get the bearing alone here:

but i don't know if it can be replaced... i have yet to call the shop...

That's not the part you're looking for. #7 is one of the two internal pinion bearings.
