Thumbs down Negative Camber FTL

Riding around during my lunch hour yesterday when I heard some noise from my right front...hmmm..next thing I know my car is pulling way hard to the right. I figured I had a flat, so I pulled a quick u-turn and pulled into a tire store. I asked if I could fill up with some air to get me back to work and I'd figure out what to do then. Well, the guy starts putting in air and I can hear the air coming out as fast as it's going in. WTF?!?! Turn my wheel hard lock left and see that the inside of my tire is completely torn apart. DONE. Look at the left side and it's almost as bad.

These aren't "brand new" tires but still have a decent amount of tread except on the inside. Put on my spare, had to go to another tire store to get tire 'cause the one I stopped at didn't have 245-35-19's.

Well I guess I have some work to do and money to spend to get the adjustable front camber arms I didn't buy when I installed my 350Z H-Techs.

why dont you just get your tires rotated? there is nothing wrong with negative camber, you just have to take extra steps to preserve your tires. i run -1.6 in the front with out a problem. i have gone through 2 sets of rear tires and still havent replaced my fronts. all i do is get them dismounted, fliped, and mounted every 5k miles or so. no biggie but saves on front tire wear

you mean "modifying my car and not doing a complete job and making sure my camber and toe settings are acceptable and not checking my tires or rotating them from side to side ftl"

These cars are relentless on the feathering issue and as you found out much worse when dropped. Get the kit, match the OE alignment specs and keep an eye on the tires. I align mine about every 5k and I only have 350z springs.

Yup I consider it an expensive lesson learned. FWIW I did have an alignment done after the spring install and as others with Z H-Techs have reported it was "within specs" (barely)...the funny thing is, visually the rears look much worse as far as camber but then again the way our cars are it's much easier to see the inside of the rear tires than the front. So I have been all paranoid checking out my rear tires all the time, while my fronts were getting pw3nd and I didn't know it!

So my lesson is: align (again); swap rear tires asap, and be more diligent about swapping tires left/right in the future.

Hey rob sorry to hear about the bad luck. Do you still have the alignment numbers after you installed the H-Techs? Curious to see what they are. Maybe the springs settled more than expected after your alignment.
