Brakes Brake % Question

I had to get new brake pads and rotars on the front of my 04 G35x last week with only 20k miles on my car. Luckily I was covered under the Infiniti Brake Warranty. They didn't replace my back brakes b/c it was at 5mm and to replace it they have to be 3mm or less. What % worn is 5mm?? The warranty is up in October, so it'd be nice to get free back brakes from infiniti as well.

A new brake pad, by eye, is probably 6-8mm in thickness, so I doubt you'd be able to get your rears down to 3mm by October.....even if you drove your car like you stole it, the fronts will probably take most of the brunt & you'll only be hurting yourself. My $0.02.

I agree with Jimmy, your rear pads should last 40-50K unless you're doing high-speed reverse brake lock-up maneuvers

Thanks guys! I'll hold off on the High-Speed reverse brake lock-up maneuvers for now haha.
