Koni sports paried with either coupe/z springs on a 03 sedan

From my research, it should be fine in terms of suspension travel and firmness.

But anyone actually run this combo? Impressions would be nice as well as your settings.

Jeff I got the Koni rears with a 07 350z spring in back. I have it on 4 turns from soft, feels good and just went to the fair with my buddy and his wife and she said it was fine back there. I even had the 20's on. I dont have the fronts done since I have a X. Still waiting to see if I can get coilovers made, if not I will get the fronts done.

Dude I got the konis from said for street, he used almost full soft in the rears and maybe a few turns in the front.

For autox, he ramped them up though.

I know there are more than a few X dudes lowered. Check the sedan section

Already been on that thread, I got a company that will do the R&D but I need people interested. But good job snagging those konis you will like them. Just at one time crank those babys to full and get a kindey belt. LOL

Excellent shock, offers superior valving vs all oem Z and G shocks, you will notice how much better they are vs whatever oem shock you have now, period.

However their's the D-spec issue. You have to need the Koni's rebound only tuning and or Koni shop services to justify how much more they cost Vs D-specs, which is also a shock that has superior valving vs all oem Z and G shocks. If you can score koni's used and undercut D-spec prices new, that's a bit different.

Also to point out, some drop heights that are less then 1" on the sedan will be better served by the D-specs double adjustability, being able to raise compression dampning, not just rebound may make the differance on really low drops to help keep you off the bump stops, which is something most ignor.

I got a decent deal used. I could use some suggestions on settings before I put them in. The guy I bought them from suggested almost full soft for the rears and something I don't remember for the fronts.

I wish someone could tell me what is the equivalent of stock is on the Konis (settings wise)

IMO, set them at 4 clicks in the rear off of full soft and 1 full turn off of full soft in the front and test. (if your oem coupe or Z rear springs are 342lbs in rate, 3 clicks from full soft might be a better choice)

Be warned, it is really easy to dial in too much rebound and not realize it.

1) Thanks for chiming in. I appreciate it.

2) I haven't read the pdf yet but are you advocating stiffer for the rear vs front? I'm guessing no and that the front / rear valving is much diff.

Not if that's what you end up with. The fronts will allow you to spin the adjustment **** as far as you want, so one turn or half a turn is a turn of the wrist away. The rears however don't allow that, you only have a narrow window to make adjustments one sweep in the rear is equal to about a 1/4 turn IIRC. Again, if one turn in the front and 4 or 3 sweeps in the rear mean the rear has more rebound control, I don't recommend that as a starting point. If we are really doing things by the book, your supposed to start out at full soft at all 4 and adjust up. What I was recommending what I had adjusted to in the past.

You are right. The fronts are much easier to adjust so has more leeway to fiddle after the installation. I'm leaning toward going full soft in the rear or maybe 1 click firm. Then the fronts I won't really worry about as I can ajust them with the car down

1 click = 1 sweep for the rears? ie.. 1 click=1 sweep = 1/4 turn. So your actually advising 3/4 or 1 full turn from soft?

There's actually 12 sweeps total from soft/firm. So actually 3 full turns = full soft to full firm.

Anyone chime in with their settings?

Update. Konis are in. Z fronts and coupe rear springs. Ride and handling are great.

Koni fronts. are 1.5 turns from soft. aka middle as the total turns are 3. I will turn them down to 1 turn as the ride might be too stiff.

As a note of interest. The Konis stick WAY out of the strut tops. And on top this, the richie front strut bar brackets get CLOSE to the koni shock shaft. I had to bend the richie strut bracket a bit to make room for the Koni. You don't need alot of room but it was rubbing just a tad so I hit it a screwdriver and hammer for clearance.

I found the ride to be a tad harsh. The rears were only 1/2 click from soft so I left them there. Fronts were about 1 turn from soft so I set them at 1/2 turn from soft. Hope this helps.
