Wilwood 6 piston 14" BBK

UPDATED with better pics (the other pics were really dark). Todd feel free to use any of these. See post #14

Finally got the brakes installed. Had them installed by M-Workz in Gardena. Steve Mitchell really knows his stuff and did a great job with the installation of the front BBK, rear pads and sways bars. Very reasonable prices too. I highly recommend him if you live in SoCal.

Came in the mail today. Purchased from Todd at TCE Performance Products. Excellent customer service and awesome prices! See his thread here: https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...ht=wilwood+tce.

This is a factory Wilwood Kit, not pieced together by a retailer. I'm getting this installed (along with Stillen sway bars) on Thursday...can't wait! I'll post more pics later this week.

Weight:
14" Rotors - 17 lbs
Rotor Hat - 3 lbs
6 Piston Caliper - 4 lbs
Caliper bracket - 1.5 lbs
Total - 25.5 lbs

(I'll weigh my stock brakes once they are removed and compare the weight.)

Rotor hat, brake pads, SS brakes lines, brake fluid, caliper bracket, etc.

6 Piston Caliper - RED

14" Drilled and Slotted Rotor

Angled view

One more look

I can save you the anticipation on the stock weights, I still have the numbers from when I did mine:

Front calipers are 16.65 lbs (with no life in the pads)
Front rotors (with 45k miles on them) were 21.70 lbs.

If you ever feel like doing the 13" Wilwood rear kit, here are the numbers:

Rear Wilwood calipers (with bracket and SS line) are 5.35 lbs
Stock rear calipers are 7 lbs (with no life in the pads)

Rear Wilwood rotors are 20.35 lbs
Rear stock calipers were 13.25 lbs

You'll love the bbk, just make sure you bed the pads properly.

Don't want to give away TCE's prices, but I can tell you I paid less than what is listed on their site (http://www.tceperformanceproducts.co....pl?record=22). Contact Todd for a better price than what is listed. If I wasn't so set on getting red calipers and drilled/slotted rotors 14" rotors it would have been a few hundred dollars cheaper.

Thanks for the info. Looks like my total weight savings up front is ~25 lbs.

Wilwood has come out with the front kit in red. TCE was not sure if they are officially producing the rear kit in red yet. Since I was only looking to get the front kit for right now I went with red, figuring that if I ever want to get the rear kit in the future they would have it in red.

Nice pics, I might take a copy if you don't mind.

Two things I must mention about current kits:
1. The front calipers must be bled in a more vertical manner than mounted on the car in my personal opinion. This car mounts calipers in such an extreme angle that air can be trapped in the crown of the pistons with bleeder passages being offset from the angle of mount.

2. The new logos are a bit of a pain for some kits where matching rear designs must be produced. I'm struggling with this to a point on other kits. I hope the rears are properly done to match in this transitional period of design.

And yes, rear kits are now available in red.

I knew some was going to say that....I'm not sure if I'm ready to deal with the issues associated with lowering yet (tire wear, rubbing, occasional scraping, etc.). I've been thinking about a full 350z suspension, wouldn't that give me a 1" drop and I wouldn't need a camber kit, correct? Since I have non-sport shocks I don't think just getting springs is the way to go.

Did I mention the free second set of pads with each kit purchase this month? (shameless plug)

Gotta be some guys out there who'd like a set of dedicated Autocross pads. Or maybe some open track pads. Value up to nearly $200 for the right application.
