They're trying to screw you. $400 for a spring install is ridiculous.

listen, do the rears by urself...it will take you no more then 1 hour at the most....then take the front to get done...so you save a lot of money, cuz they must be using solid gold tools..

take an afternoon and just do it yourself. ive taken my stock springs off and put s-techs in. then i took those out and put coilovers in. with a basic knowledge of tools and your car it is not that difficult. the rears are easy. the fronts your going to need to rent a spring compressor from autozone.

I'm going to do mine with another g35 member thats already done his. Probably the best way to go. I was interested to see how much shops were charging though so I checked it out. I went to a local shop the other morning to get a quote and they gave me a lot of crap about my car that I knew wasn't right. The manager explained that they use a site called alldatapro that is used for automotive repair shops to estimate labor hours. He showed me that the fronts take about 1:30 hours. First thing I thought was "It seems like a qualified mechanic could do the fronts quicker than that" but I was like ok I can deal with that. But then he shows me where it said the rears take 2:30 hours . Well I knew that was wrong so I was like WTF thats so much bull **** because the rears are 10 times easier than the fronts and it should take half the time it does to do the fronts (b/c the springs are separate from the shocks). So I try to talk to him because I know my car and I know it doesnt take that long but because he works at the shop (and he knows everything ) he acted like an *** hole and looked at me like I knew nothing.
I dont know man I dont really like going to just any garage, usually the smaller places are better about not trying to screw you or a decent shop that specialize in after market stuff. You should just do it yourself, its not that bad and if you have basic tools your just going to need spring compressors for the front. I got lucky and my fellow g35er knows a guy that owns a shop so we are just going to throw it on a lift one afternoon.

they are easy as FVCK

I did mine today in about 35-45 minutes per wheel.

Rear are extremely easy fronts are a bit more complicated but also easy.

Also...............You do not need any special spring tools. I have done everything with a ratchet and air gun.

If you want I can tell you step by step what to do.

How do you get the front springs off the shocks without spring compressors? I dont know if I would want those things exploding in my face.

A typical install price from a shop should range from 150-200.

they don't

There is no tension in the springs what so ever.

They don't pop at all.

not as much as all you saying.

I took that nut off with a ratchet standing in front of the shock.

There was practically no jump in the spring. Just a mall one.

and installation was just as easy. slide the spring back and put the nut on.

Rears were CAKE. Fronts will be a challange. Took me like 6 hours but now I can do it a lot quicker since I know what it entails. Do yourself a favor and buy the tools and do it yourself, you will have $300+ left over in the bank and be proud that you did it yourself!!
