HORRIBLE brake shuddering/vibration
HORRIBLE brake shuddering/vibration
I searched the forum and got even more confused as to my problem:
I have an '04 coupe, 66k miles, bought used at 61k miles. I noticed when I bought the car a slight shuddering when I hit the brakes, but it was barely even noticeable and didn't think much of it. It has been getting progressively worse. About a month ago my left rear brake caliper siezed (didn't even put two and two together until now), and when I got that fixed I also got two new rear pads and my rear rotors resurfaced. They told me my front pads looked almost new so I left them alone. I thought the resurfaced rotors would've corrected the problem, but now it is even worse. If I hit the brakes at highway speeds, the entire car shakes. My question is:
If my rotors were warped, wouldn't the resurfacing take care of the problem?
Could my brake calipers be causing the issue? I read in one thread to "check the calipers to make sure they're not causing the problem" -- what?! how?
I bought the car with aftermarket 19" wheels -- they are aligned and ride great UNTIL I hit the brakes. Do these have something to do with the issue? Was it possible they weren't torqued correctly?
Thanks a lot, any help would be appreciated.

They were probably borderline thin and should have been replaced. Now you'll have to do that. Don't feel bad my car only has 22K miles and it's already shuddering when I hit the brakes. I'm sure I'll be looking at a big $$$ brake job in the near future.
I got the shuddering too as well and it would make my entire car shake and vibrate. I left my rears alone but I got my fronts resurfaced and new brake pads. The car stops beautifully and smoothly now. My coupe has 19K miles.
