SPC front camber kit

I am about to purchase the SPC front camber kit, but i have read that sometimes these things will cause the ABS and slip lights to come on...

i was wondering who have had these installed and did you have light problems and how did you get rid of them?

oh yeah and also if you guys used the shim and spacer?

I have the same SPC kit... I had no problems at all with VDC or SLIP... Not sure on the spacer / shim.... had my shop install em.

I am glad you are using SPC and NOT Kinetix.... the kinetix kit looks very cheap to me.

It depends on teh verison you buy - there is a 1 and 2 version. The spacers have a high liklihood of giving you ABS issues. Reason being, the angle if the sensor not only changes, but its reference distance does as well. The sensor may need to be adjusted/mount bent, to accomodate. The version 2 has addressed this issue, to my understanding.

The usual cause for the ABS lights to come on is an improperly aligned speed sensor bracket. The speed sensor has to be centered over the ring on the hub.

Well Im getting a SPC camber kit only because my front tires were wearing out in the inside really bad. Only got 15k on them and they craped on me.

I recently got my alignment the other day without my camber kit yet because firestone wanted to see if they could get it back into specs. Here are my before # and actual # now (with out my camber kit)
ACTUAL __ BEFORE __ SPECIFIED RANGE
Left
-1.8 __ -1.9 __ -1.2 to 0.3 Camber
8.6 __ 8.6 __ 7.3 to 8.8 Caster
0.07 __ 0.03 __ 0.00 to 0.08 Toe
5.7 __ 5.7 __ 4.2 to 5.7 SAI
3.9 __ 3.9 __ 3.0 to 6.0 Turning angle Diff.

Right
-1.7 __ -1.7
8.1 __ 8.1
0.05 __ -0.05
5.2 __ 5.2
3.5 __ 3.5

have had the SPC kit for close to a year now and no issues whatsoever. I get creaking here and there, but nothing horrible.

Algy, see my post on your other SPC thread (why 2 threads?? whatever...) All negative camber causes increased wear on the inside. You want at least .5 anyway although 0 would create longest lasting tires. 3.0 gives nice sharp turn in and feels great but kills tires fast in daily driving. 1.7-1.9 isn't terrible by any means but over the life of your tires the inside will wear out first and will be premature compared to if you install the kit and adjust to <1.0. I did not install the shims. Before I was at about 2.3 and my tires did wear unevenly. After, I was about .7 in front and I left .9 in rear. See my other posts regarding spindle nut and positioning arm before torquing bolts to reduce stress on bushings and potential squeaking.

Installed front and rear SPC camber kit and flashing in front of me are ABS, VDC, and SLIP sensor lights. Shop where I got it installed said they were going to order the sensors and call me back and install them. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

There shouldn't be a need to replace the sensors, just need to realign them. Do not pay for new sensors if that is their solution, they are ripping you off.

I was curious why they were ordering a new pair, so what ever happened to the stock ones?

Right, the sensors just need to be centered on the ring in the hub. It only takes a little bit to be off and trigger the lights.

Would it be possible to align the sensor yourself or does a professional have to do it?

You should do it yourself because a lot of so called professionals don't know what they're doing or the lights wouldn't be on.

Take off the wheel and look behind the hub. you will see where the speed sensor mounts to a metal bracket onto the hub. Directly underneath the sensor is a ring on the hub. Loosen the one bolt holding the speed sensor bracket to the hub, fix it centered on that ring and retighten the bolt. I went ahead and cleaned the rin too.
