5mm spacers question!!

I bought two pairs of 5mm spacers, one for the front and one for the rear. I might not put any in the front tho, so my question is, can I install2 5mm spacers on one wheel with the wheel studs that come with the 5mm package? or is this not safe??? Also, is it ok to install the longer studs on the front just in case I will put the spacers later on.....
Thanx guys for the help.

do you have to put in the longer studs for just 5mm spacers

in my experience no but i haven't done it on a G yet. put the spacer on and stick the wheel on there and you can make a good judgment from there on how much stud is left pending on the wheel you using it shouldn't be a problem but if you already have them just take the time to put them on.

Well I do have the studs, and they reccommend that u put them on. But since I may not put the front ones on I might just wanna through 2 5mm spacers on each side.

one of my buddies installed 5mm h&r spacers the other day without the extended studs on the rear, and he sheared off two studs on his g35 within days. I had to help him replace them, and the install process for the studs is relatively easy, so you should just use them. I would not stack 2 5mm spacers on top of each other though because the extended studs are only meant for an addition 5mm

It depends on how thick the center of the wheel is. I had no problems with a couple sets in the past, but did with another. Extended studs are always a good idea.

I believe the recommended/proper "fit" for M12x1.25 studs is 8 revolutions of the wheel lugs (this was in literature supplied with Eibach 10mm spacers). Perhaps that would be the best way to determine whether the longer studs are required. Also, Eibach explicitly does not recommend stacking two spacers together. Hope this helps.

many people run longer studs, just make sure your lug nuts have the room to fit them if they are not open ended...

personally, I would never use a spacer less than 10mm on a G35 / 350Z... the 10 is the only sizes that are Hub Centric and Wheel Centric...

the 5mm Eibach and H&R spacers are hub-centric but not to the wheel as well... Eibach makes 10mm hub/wheel centric spacers...

what do you mean they're hub centric but not to the wheel ? I'm curious because I was just about to order 5mm eibach spacers.

The 5mm spacers look like this from both H&R, EIBACH, ICHIBA who ever...

The 10mm EIBACH and 15mm + Eibach, H&R, Ichiba look like this...

That center ring sticking out will be your safety net if your lug nuts are ever loose or if you hit a big enough bump that your suspension bottoms out.

As stock, the center part of your wheel fits tightly around the hub. With the 5mm spacer, that part is essentially missing so you are only relying on the hub bolts them selves to keep the wheel centered, and hopefully it does not happen to you but I have seen it before, where a bump is hit and the hub bolts literally are sheared off...

Thanks Jason. I guess I'll go with the 10mm.

I put on the ICHIBA 5mm and the studs on the front only. I'll see if we shear them off on the Bull Run this weekend.

How much are the 10mm wheel/hub centric ones?

The 10mm are $100-125, But I had a found a good deal for 5mm Eibach's for $60. Plus, I don't know if the 10mm would make my tires bulge out too much.

The 10mm use 4 times the material as the 5mm...

If you are going to run spacers that are not like the 10mm and larger, just make sure your wheels are properly torqued...

The problems are more seen with the cast die cut spacers... the material is softer and can compress as well which will lead to other issues...
