Brake change at Meineke?

Hey guys, I got quoted at my dealership to change my (2004 G35 Coupe with brembos) brakes pads and machine the rotors for $585.00 for the front only. I thought that was pretty outrageous, so I called Meineke and they quoted me at $280 for the same service, but they would use Akebono brakes. I saw the OEM Brembo brakes listed on everything g35's website for $139. I guess I could buy those and ask Meineke to install them for me... but is there really a difference? I had my brakes changed a little over a year ago at the dealership with the OEM Brembo brakes and I cant believe they have already worn out (about 20K miles and dont drive very hard) The offer at Meineke seems like a good deal to me, is there really a difference between brake pads? what would you guys do? Thanks!

There can be huge differences between brake pads. You can have meineke do the work if you'd like, but I would under no circumstances run the pads they suggest. Purchase OEM or good aftermarket pads and bring it to them for labor only. Make sure they know how to cut the rotors also, as the brembo's are only good for turn at best.
