bought this 03 sedan a couple of days ago and today noticed the two rear brakes are rusted. can anyone tell me if this will be an issue, or how i can get the rust off? seems like the brakes are working perfectly.

All brakes rust, if you do not like it take them off and paint the hats and vanes.

You can opt to paint the entire rotor assembly with a high temp paint. In short time, the only remaining paint will be in the non contact areas of the rotors.

^Yep, that's the easy way. Do it while on the car. I suggest you take some 400 grit sand paper and sand a little bit before applying the paint. Don't forget to wipe down the rotor before paint.

Don't worry about getting paint on the surface like Andy said. Once you drive it, the paint will come off after the first few stops.

Kragen, Autozone, Pepboys...Home Depot.

I've used the Duplicolor one from Kragen. Semi-gloss

I didn't do that with mine so there is a small rust line I need to deal with.

You're insane. That paint residue will foul the pads and reduce performance. Wow.

That was my thoughts also.... I am no expert, but I don't see how it could be a good thing to pack your pads full of Kryon or any other brand of spray paint for that mater....

i dont have a rust line but I do have a dust line that wont come off even if i wash it. IMO it hurts twice as much on a BBK than an OEM rotor as you know how much 14, 15 inch rotors cost

I have read several posts of people who have done this and it had no adverse affect on braking.

You can overlap a LITTLE. But I wouldn't go hog wild and coat the entire disc with paint.

Take them off and do it right. It's proably easier in the end anyway.

I've used engine paint with good success. Tough paint

The rotors, which were painted were Rotora drilled/slotted replacement rotors. They were cleaned and painted prior to the swap. Some 1000 miles later and no issues.

Remove the wheel, lightly sand the rusted area with 400 grit automotive sandpaper, clean the rust and then clean the entire rotor face with an aerosol brake cleaner. Mask the hat and drive pins with some masking tape and paint the rotor face around the hat with some sort of high temperature black paint; I would use a satin or flat finish, not gloss. While the paint is still wet, use a solvent soaked (brake cleaner) wipe (paper towel or clean shop towel) and clean the overspray from the face of the rotor AWAY from the rust. Don’t worry about cleaning all the paint and getting it exactly to the diameter where the rust was; just get off some of the heavy overspray OUTSIDE the diameter of the rust ring. As soon as you install and run the parts, the pads will rub off the rest of the excess paint and make a clean line.

Sorry for the run on sentence
