Question about turning/machining rotors

I have an 05 sedan w/ sport package with 31K miles and most likely original brakes. Last time car was in at the dealer for an oil change the free inspection noted the front and rear brakes had about 3mm-5mm of pad left. So im getting ready to do a brake job before summer comes and most likely will do the work myself.

My brakes arent warped and dont make any noise at the moment. The rotors appear to be normally smooth with no deep groves or any etching on all 4. My question is, is it okay to just change the pads and leave the rotors as is? Or should I remove the rotors and have them machined, or better yet replaced? I plan to replace the brakes with OEM pads, and if need be OEM rotors. What do all the G35 brake experts say?

Thanks!

The reason brake rotor have a minimum thickness is so that worn out pads and worn to a minimum rotors won't allow the capiper pistons to extend too much to cause the piston seal to fail.

A 2mm thinner roter will only weigh 5-8% less so it will only operate 5-8% hotter.

Always measure rotor thickness to determine replacement point.

If you ever change pad compounds always true the rotors to remove the transfer film from pads and allow new transfer film to be bedded in.

Brakes on the G....?

With in excess of 31K miles on the clock I'd have the rotors turned when you
do the brake job. Since they're not warped just have them remove a minimal
amount!
