Help me choose the right coilover setup.

I've got a 03.5 sedan G35 and I am wanting to put a coilover system on it. I need it to stay under $1000, but at the same time I need my camber to be perfect.

I've seen Megan Coilovers, HKS Coilovers and Tein Coilovers. But I don't know anything about them. I need it to have a soft ride and remain quiet. I've heard about the Tein and HKS making a popping sound when going over bumps and I don't think that will work in my situation.

Any suggestion?

If you want to drop your car on coilovers, you will need to spend some $400 extra on camber kits to keep the camber perfect. I think the Tein comforts might be what you are looking for in a "soft" ride.

Tein Comforts? I can't find those. How much. Also, I really am thinking of going with the Megan Coilovers.

if you only need a comfy ride, get lowering springs and some tokico D-Specs.
that's probably your best bet.

coilovers introduce a lot of adjustability/features that might be overwelming
for someone with not much experience... it could potentially introduce
noise too, depending on which c/o setup you go with.

i run coilovers on my other car and i've been tweaking the height the last
3 weeks... probably went back over 20 times to get it perfect... even
this morning i got up early to tweak the height some more.

Thanks, but I want to stick with coilovers. Any suggestions there?

Tein Basics-$850 brand new(5-650 used) pretty soft compared to others
Function&form TypeII-$950 new (used-?)i just got these so dont have a review yet on them
Tein Flex-used $800-1200- still one of the cheaper coilovers, but considerably stiffer, also has dampening ability
Megan Racing- i foget how much they are-not sure how these ride
search around

if you are gonna dump it you need camber kits, at least in the rear

I was looking at the SPC camber kit for the rear. I believe it goes for about $150. Sound about right?

The Megan racing can be had for the exact same amount as the Tein Basics, plus the Megan has 32 levels of damper adjustment. I think I am leaning this way. I wonder if you can get the Tein EDFC to work with other models other than just Tein?

I have Megan Racing and they ride fine since I don't drive hard but I wouldn't say they are soft. Much rougher than stock though. The Tein Comfort Sport might be softer but I have no experience with them.

You can look over at my350z for some more reviews if you can't find it here.

Oh and Megan Racing coilovers are made by BC Racing so you can buy BC Racing coilovers too from one of the Sponsors here.

You need to increase your budget if you want coilovers with a soft ride. The Megan's are manufactured by the same company that does the Greddy coilovers and they definitely aren't a soft ride coilover. They are noticeably stiffer than stock. If you want a soft ride, look at the Tein CS (Comfort Sport) they are around $15-1600 so you'll have to save up a little more.

Who is BC Racing? Also, you mention Tein Comfort, but I have no clue what you are talking about. Are those coilovers? Are they under $1K? So many questions. Can you help me out anymore? Links, info....?

Thanks Gdup, but if I need to sacrifice one of the two things, then I'll sacrifice the ride quality. How are Megan's? Can you give me anymore info on them? They say that they make 2 different setups. One is street and the other is track. The street spring rate is F10 and R8 and the track is F14 and R12. I would think that the street spring coilovers would be the way to go with a 10 and 8 but am I reading this right? You say that the 10 and 8 are still much more stiffer than stock?

Very noticeably stiffer. Check out https://g35driver.com/forums/suspension-vendor/204686-bc-racing-coilovers.html for BC Racing coilovers.

Check out http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthre...cing+coilovers for a review of Megan Racing coilovers

Gsedan35 is the know-it-all of suspension.

I was also interested in the Megan Racing coilovers for many of the same reasons (dampening adjustability, price, setup).

I notice in the details for the coilover, they mention "Pillow-Ball upper mounts" which allow for camber adjustments. My reasoning is that springs and camber kits (front and rear) will cost me the same as these coilovers.

So will I be able to adjust my camber AND height with these units?
