Question on the rear coilover setups
Since the rear shock and spring are next to each other, are coilovers going to be the same style? What I mean is I see some kits show the coilover spring around the shock, yet in some other kits I see that the coilover is going to be a swap out shock for shock and spring for coilover. Does that sound right? Here are some pics to show the difference.

This shows the megan coilovers. Note that the rear coilover and shock will be installed in the same locations as the stock setup.

And this shows the tein coilovers. Note that the rear will be installed as the front - as one unit.
Can someone chime in on this?

those teins are not for a G35!
the first pic is what your coilover will look like, most of them come that way
there are a few TRUE coilover setups wher ethe coil and strut are together like the front, but i forget which ones

OP... The difference is that most coilovers made for our cars are not "TRUE" coilovers. There are few TRUE coilover setups for the G35. Stance and Zeal are the two i can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks Gdup!
How much do Stance and Zeal run for? Is there a benefit to a true coilover setup on the rear or is it negligible?

People here and on My350z.com have had problems with true coilovers because the mounts were not made to handle both the spring and shock. Stance runs around $1100 I believe; not sure about Zeal.
Yeah, I just looked at the Stance description in our coilover sticky on here and he mentions about the load issue. I think I'll stay away from the true coils. Seems like the spring/shock on the rear seems to be working fine for everyone on their Teins and HKS, etc. Thanks.
