Uneven Brake Pad Wear

Today I noticed that there is some unevenness to my brake pads in the front. (Didn't check the rears).

On one of the front pads on the right side of the car, I think the pad on the outside of the rotor, I notice that the end of the pad closer to the front of the car has more wear than the opposite end of the same pad. The inside pad seems to have even wear. The same is happening on the left side front brakes.

My friend had this same problem before on his c43 and was told that it is usually caused by dirty brake fluid causing uneven compression of the brakes. Does this sound like what could be happening?

Maybe Q45tech can chime in on this since he seems very knowledgeable.

I always replace my brake fluid annually prior to summer, just one less thing to worry about.

Brake fluid can only get dirty from worn rubber seals, now acidic or chemical changes when mixed with water/humidity is quite another thing.

I happen to have a 1999 C43 AMG also. Has your friend replaced his AT yet as they all fail around 90-110k..............a nice $3,300 cost if you do it yourself. $6,700 at dealers.

Thanks for the input, i'll ask my friend.

So I take it that dirty brake fluid is most likely the cause of my uneven pad wear. Do I just do a drain and fill or do I have to do a flush or something?

Q45 tech said it's most likely moisture getting into the fluid. You'll have to do a flush.

Sounds like I should also change my rubber seals if they are worn. Are those easy to change and which seals are they?

Um not sure which pad is closer to the front of the car as they are put in the caliper parallel.

In floating calipers, it's not unusual to see one pad have more wear than the other. It's usually the inner or outer. I'd be concerned if just ONE pad was extremely worn vs the other 3 front pads. Or if only the right/left side pads were worn much more than the other.
