HELP! At the dealership right now!!

I just took my car in to a dealership in Toronto for snow tire change. Then theybtold me I have to repalce my brake pads at 52k milage. They said it would cost 900 plus tax for front and rear. Is this right? If it is just a hundred or so more than an outside job then its fine by me but I just want to make sure it isnt somethng like 200 and they are charging me 900 for it that sort of thing. I have no idea what brembo brake pads are suppose to cost.

That seems high to me. I replaced my rotors and pads for less than that. They must get a grip for labor.

If they are for the Brembo brake setup, then I bet the $900 would be just for replacing the pads (fronts and rears). Replacing the rotors would cost you a lot more, especially at the dealership. Coz they told me once to replace the front rotors and pads (including labour), I would be looking at about $2500. And the rears would cost about the same.

A lot of people are buying parts online at a good price and then getting it installed either by yourself or at a reputable mechanic shop, and you'll save yourself a ton of money.

I bought OEM Brembo front and rear pads for ~$200 and brought it to a shop to install for about $150.

Do yourself a favor and buy your own pads and have an independent shop install them. As mentioned previously, shop and ask around, and find a reputable shop.

Had reputable shop install Centric Posi-Quiet Extended Wears all around and new front rotors (since rotors had previously been cut under warranty front pad replacement).

$580 including parts, labor and tax.

FYI:

The dealer I bought my coupe new from in 2003 was recently sold. New management must think they are clever. They are running a "SERVICE SPECIAL" including an oil service and tire rotation for ..... get this....... $90!!!!! This is for standard petroleum oil. Not synthetic!! Are they using gold plated oil filters??

How will they perform a standard tire rotation on the coupes? Since they sell also sell new Lamborghinis and Bentleys perhaps that's where they are developing their marketing strategy for Infiniti from.

Any JUST TIRE or NTB shop offers free tire rotation with $23.00 oil service. If you have purchased tires at those shops they provide free lifetime balancing.

dude, if they're just replacing brake pads, 900 is way too much...I think the quote for replacing brake pads is like 150-200.

And either way, you should just do it yourself. Go to an auto parts store and you can probably get brake pads for about $50. you pretty much just take off the wheel, take out the screws, lift up the caliper, and pull out the pads. If you're confused, i'm sure there's a diy here...

but yeah, I'd def bail out if i were you
