Bolt inside the a-arm spins freely...is this bad??
While putting suspension in one of my buddies G's I noticed the bolt that is inside his driver's side A-arm was spinning freely. This made it impossible to get the nut off to detach the A-arm from the rest of the suspension. Is this bad and/or does it warrant replacing the whole a-arm?? Here is a picture of the bolt in question courtesy of the DIY suspension thread.
Well, first take out the cotter pin, then the nut should unscrew since its on a threaded bolt (the lower ball joint bolt).
If the bolt or nut is somehow stripped... you will need to replace at least the lower part of the ball joint, but I'm not sure how that comes apart.
Worst case you can just cut that bolt/nut off there, but that will require replacement parts.
let us know how it goes.

Try to use a pair of C- Channel Pillars, I think thats what they are called or just some big *** pillars and clamp the a-arm and the spindle together adn try to get the nut to start spinning wihtout the bolt moving.

Is it bad though if the bolt is doing this? Is it safe or unsafe and will the a-arm properly function even though this is happening? We got his new suspension in so no need to take the nut off the bolt. Just wondering if this is a safety issue or not. Thanks for the help though guys
i just checked my stock arms and they do not spin freely. i swapped them out for 350evo camber arms.

i wouldnt use them again...it holds your suspension together. id hate to hear a story of it coming apart while driving. id take a part of vise grips and unbolt it and see whats going on. also look on the opposite side.
Hell no they shouldn't spin, and what's worse is that you have to buy the entire arm. You can't just replace the bolt, it's built into the arm itself.
If you need new ones get the 350evo arms, I have them on for a while now and am really happy with them. Or Stillen, heard decent things about SPL too.
