Attn: Brake experts. Help needed removing rear rotor

Hi everyone! As stated above I'm trying to remove my rear rotors on my 04 coupe. I need to switch out on of the studs on the wheel hub as it's stripped and i don't want to roll with only 4 lug nuts.

Anyhow, my problem is this..I've turned the brake dial adjuster till it won't move anymore and I still can't seem to get the rotor off. Is it ok to tap it with a hammer on the back end of the rotor to hopefully pry it loose? Any other tips or tricks you may have is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Forget about tapping it, HAMMER it! Also what my friend did is basically use both legs while sitting on the floor and stomping on each end of the rotor, eventually it became loose...

Its the rust

If this is the first time the rear rotors have been pulled off, you will need to work at getting them off. The back side of he rotor is stuck to the hub due to rust. Spray a little PB Blaster or WD 40 on the center area of the rotor (front side) and around the lugs. Let it soak in for 10 minutes and then tap the rotor off with a plastic mallet. I would NOT use a metal mallet/hammer, unless you are planning on replacing your rotors!

Make sure you clean the rust off the face of the hub with a wire brush and use plenty of brake cleaner to remove all of the PB Blaster/WD 40 when you reassemble.

Make sure your parking brake is released.

He's right. I just got done doing this but I was replacing my rotors so I just banged them off with a hammer. He's suggestions are great and should work alot better if you have to reinstall the rotor.

I'd also put some anti-seize on the back of the rotor or on the hub face to prevent them from sticking in the future.
