I am interested as well. The price seems almost too good to be true for coils that have this much flexibility in adjustment.

they emerged on the market a few years ago with K-sport and Megan. I've heard mostly iffy reviews, I think most people ranked the D-2 brand lower than K-sport and Megan based on what I have read around the web.

If you live in a cali-like climate and only do street driving, Im sure they are a nice setup, but I they may not stand up well against repeated aggressive driving and harsh weather environments.

I would go with BC or Megan because they're both affordable and easy to get rebuilds for...BC being the best choice

^ thanks for the info

How often do coils need rebuilds and how much should one expect to pay? I only do street driving and a friend has the BC racing coils and recommends them. I just like the idea of having true coils in the back as well along with more flexibility in adjustment.

Supposedly for the time being, rebuilds through BC are just $100-ea and thats a brand new strut, not just a reserviced set. From what I've seen elsewhere you can expect to pay anywhere from $150-$300 per strut for rebuilds.

The duration of rebuilds depends, if you were racing maybe once a year if you were very active. For street though I've heard some people with Megans weren't making it past 15k-20k miles.

you talk to some people about when struts need rebuilt and you can get into some nice debates, general rule is from what i know, is if its not visiably blown or noticeable while driving, struts begin to lose their optimal performance by 40k-60k miles and should be rebuilt or replaced.

I had the D2's on my Skyline 250GT (basically a G35 but with the VQ25 motor). On their softest setting the ride was firm but not harsh, definetely firmer than stock though. Noticeably less body roll. Felt quite stable on the road and gave more confidence in the cars cornering ablilties.

Left front starting leaking fluid after 3 months of use. Daily driven car, just to work and back. Lowered about 25mm and springs and dampers were on their softest setting. So I would imagine they weren't under a lot of stress. They can be rebuilt and come with a 12 month warranty but must be installed by a shop. I installed myself so the warranty was not honoured. Sold them on the net for NZ$200, paid NZ$1300 for them brand new.

^That is most unfortunate. I think if I do get coils it will be the BC Racing brand. I have heard good things about them and they are serviceable here in the States. They are also about the same price, they just lack a few of the features offered by D2.

there is a Tein Flex with EDFC for sale on suspension forum, you should jump on them. one of the best coils money can buy.

D2 Coilovers

I have D2's on my 03 sedan and I like them. For the price IMO they are way better than the Tein basics. I've had them for a few years and never had a problem. The spring rates are really stiff from the factory but I know you can get softer spring rates. A friend of mine is actually the West Coast distributor now, maybe I can get together a group buy.

^What spring rates do you have?

My biggest hesitation with the D2s is the location of the rear spring, it is likely to make the ride way too harsh. I really like the flexibility of the D2s but I am not sure about the quality.

FYI: It is a little fishy to toss up a recommendation and offer to start a group buy on your very first post. If you have some involvement with D2 or a vendor let us know, it is more likely to garner business. I see that you joined more than 3 years ago so maybe you just have not felt the need to post.

Yea you know what it's strange, I've been an active "reader" of this forum for a few years and found TONS of useful information. I purchased my car in 04 and had all these big plans for it but the payments were pretty much the only thing I took care of. I finally paid my G off in March and just went crazy with it. Hopefully I can give/receive more feedback now with everyone on the forum. The springs show 11-180 and 12-180 which I believe is 8.7 kg fronts, 7 kg. rears. I didn't want to seem like I was trying to advertise for D2 so I didn't mention any names. I'm good friends with Mike @ Urban Imports and Kevin @ Unified Distribution which are the East/West D2 dealers.

^That was my situation as well. I waited until the car was paid for before really getting involved in this site. Doing so has caused me to spend a decent amount of money and I have at least a few items that I am planning for already: coilovers, camber, exhaust.
