Cut Dead coils ?

Hi im about to buy a set of tokico dspec + Eibach Pro Kit Springs used (1k miles)

But the thing is the guy cut off 1/4" the rear springs.
He said : "Dead coils are the part of the spring that only serve the purpose of ride height. They do not have anything to do with spring rates"

im going to buy it tonight and i really want to know if someone of you guys have done it before.

Is it really safety?

thanks ...
bump !!

It's cut your car is going to ride like $hit!. bottom line is if the spring was meant to be lower it would've been made lower. It seems that cutting springs mess with the structural integrity of the spring. I think this will also cause you to blow your shocks quicker.

Depending on how the coils were cut, if too much heat was introduced into the metal, the spring rates could be completely ruined. I wouldn't buy the springs.

i got this information from other website
"Although it's not relevant to stock springs, it's very common for people to cut off a "dead" coil from a progressive lowering spring. There may be one coil at the end of the spring that touches the second coil, so it has no use other than acting as a spacer because it's already fully compressed. Therefore it's "dead", and can be removed to provide a slightly lower ride height without severly altering the suspension."

the guy only cut only 1/4" ..

i still think that if he really was concerned witht he ride height and wanted to dump his car lower he should've gotten the sportlines.

It doesn't matter that the guys works for Infiniti. That's all the more reason that he should know not to cut the springs. Maybe the guy was working at Hyundai last week.

trust me...you'll notice when your car rides like a damn seesaw lol!

it is "FINE" to put those springs on stock shocks and struts, but you WILL blow out your shocks a lot faster than you would with the right spring rate.

yes, they can handle it. the springs will eventually sag maybe a half inch, the aftermarket shocks will lower it a lil bit more too. so don't cut the springs.....just buy the sportlines, they will work with the stock shocks too.

Right now I have a 2" gap F&R (I don't have a OEM Sport Suspension right?)
Eibach Pro Kit - 1.1" F&R
Eibach Sportline Kit - 1.6" F&R

If I put the Sportline kit on isn't it gonna look slammed?
